The Shira Route is a spectacular but less-traveled approach to Kilimanjaro’s summit, ideal for climbers already acclimatized to high altitudes. It begins on the western slopes, crossing the dramatic Shira Plateau with its sweeping views of Mt. Meru and the Great Rift Valley. The route merges with the Lemosho path and eventually joins the southern circuit, offering varied landscapes, from rainforest to alpine desert, and an exhilarating summit attempt via Barafu and Stella Point. While shorter than other options, this trek offers both challenge and beauty, with fewer crowds and rich wilderness experiences.
