Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you’ll be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in the heart of Stone Town. If your flight arrives in the morning or before midday, your day begins with a guided visit to a local spice plantation, where you’ll learn how Zanzibar earned its nickname, the “Spice Island.” Discover the origins and uses of various spices, herbs, and tropical fruits while interacting with local farmers and tasting seasonal delicacies.
After lunch at the farm, you’ll return to Stone Town for a guided walking tour through the UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the maze-like streets and visit historical landmarks including the former slave market, the Old Fort, the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace Museum, and local markets. You’ll also have free time for souvenir shopping or relaxing along the seafront before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, enjoy a short boat ride to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, which was once used as a quarantine station and prison. Here, you’ll have the chance to meet giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 100 years old, and relax on the beach or snorkel in the clear turquoise waters surrounding the island.
After your island visit, return to the hotel to collect your bags and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back to Kilimanjaro or Arusha, bringing your island escape to a close.
